What a missed call text back actually is
The call you could not take is not the problem. The silence after it is.
A missed call text back is exactly what it sounds like: the moment a call rings out, a message goes to that number without anyone having to notice or remember. It is the cheapest possible fix for the most common way a local business loses work, and it is the first thing the system does before it does anything else.
Speed is the whole point. A customer who calls three numbers has usually decided within a few minutes, so a text that arrives an hour later lands after the decision. Arriving within seconds puts you back in the running while they are still looking at their phone.
What it says matters almost as much as when. A bare "sorry we missed you" asks the customer to do the work again. A useful one names the business so they know who is writing, says plainly that you cannot pick up right now, and asks the one question that keeps things moving: what do you need and when.
From there it stops being a text message and becomes a conversation. The reply comes back to the same system that knows your prices, your hours and your diary, so the customer can be answered and booked in without the call ever being returned.
Tell me what you are losing.
Thirty minutes on a call. I will tell you what we would build, and honestly whether it is worth it.
