Taking bookings without a website
A surprising number of busy local businesses have no website at all, and it is not the problem they are usually told it is.
If your customers find you on Instagram, through Google Maps, or because somebody told them about you, a website is not what is standing between you and more work. What is standing there is the gap between someone deciding to book and actually being booked in.
That gap can be closed without a site. A Google Business Profile puts you on Maps with your hours, your photos and your number. A booking link can be sent in a message. The conversation that turns an enquiry into an appointment happens on WhatsApp or Instagram, which is where your customers already are.
What you do need is a real answer at the end of it. If the enquiry is answered from your actual prices and the slot is checked against your actual diary, the customer is booked before they have gone anywhere else. If it ends in "I will check and get back to you," the website was never the issue.
A site earns its place later, when you want to be found by people who are searching for the service rather than for you by name. It is worth building at that point, and not before, because it is the answer that closes the booking, not the page.
